INTERIOR DESIGN TIPS

Interiors are meant to reflect the personality of those who confine the space or those who will frequent the space. Interiors depict the behaviour and atmosphere of occupancies. One of the largest factors other than materials is color. Psychologist have studied the mood of persons confined in spaces with amazing results of how each color can alter our experience.

Tip: Start with picking a color pallette of no more than 5 Colors for your palette. Decide whether or not you want a dominant color for walls & furnishes or vice versa. Another common strategy in contemporary design is to use brighter colors as highlights as they are already strong on their own with contrasting elements close by.

Materials

To add intriguing level of detail consider what you want each surface (wall, floor etc) to feel like. Does it reflect light? Does it change appearance when hit by light or night and day? Is it soft, hard, smooth or embossed with a pattern?

Smell

Smell of an interior is something often overlooked but can but essential for dictating the mood of the person(s) inhabiting the space. Find a smell that makes the experience special or to transports you to the environment trying to be portrayed. What surface cleaners will you use? What candles? What air freshener? What Fruits/Plants are kept on the counter?
